Friday night's highlight was the Soobiesta minifestival at the Jubilee Hotel. Kate Miller-Heidke, unfortunately not pictured here, was just about to begin her set when we got there. Kate made quite an impression on yours truly with her incredible, opera-trained voice.

We didn't hang around for all of Molliger's set, so we did not get to hear Can You See My Underpants?

Jackie Marshall, singing with both feet firmly in the alt.country swamp (an enduring image, wouldn't you agree?).

Misinterprotato, who share a bass player with The Boat People (I believe each band has their own Fender Rhodes though), is a jazz trio concentrating on improvisation. Their jazz odyssey provided a much needed soundtrack for getting another beer.

Vietnam Vets With Tourettes, the best named rap group on the planet.

Ponyloaf, those magnificent men with their sine wave machines.
Even though the festival had only barely started, we concluded that we'd already had more than our money's worth, so we slipped, satisfied, into the sinful Brisbane night. The Soobiesta went on until 5am.
