Opera Queensland is currently doing a production of The Turn of the Screw, a chamber opera by Benjamin Britten, with the charming Kate Miller-Heidke cast as Flora.

Britten obviously wasn't going for an array of hit songs like that of Bizet's Carmen, in fact, there are absolutely no hit songs whatsoever in the whole opera. Perhaps it's not compulsory to have one, but personally I wouldn't mind a hummable tune every now and then. The performance was excellent, though.
